THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced late this morning (Dec. 26) that 110 more coronavirus cases emerged over the past 24 hours with 64 being local infections, 35 among migrant workers while 16 travellers from overseas have been quarantined, Siam Rath newspaper reported.
As a result, the total number of cases from proactive screening of migrant workers has now reached 1,338 with this taking the cumulative total to 6,020 cases while the death total stayed stationary at 60. Fifteen more patients have recovered adding up to 4,152 who have been discharged from hospital so far with 1,808 still undergoing treatment.
Of the 16 people who arrived from overseas and now quarantined, four came from Russia, three from the US, two from Myanmar and one each from India, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, UK, Mozambique, Germany and France.
Meanwhile 60 of 64 local infections were linked to Samut Sakhon province from where the new outbreak sprang, three had contact with confirmed cases while one case is still being investigated.
