NATIONAL Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet has ordered an investigation into an allegation that one of the suspects in the murder of two Russian siblings and a Thai family of three in Chonburi had taken a man to get narcotics from a policeman there, Naewna newspaper said this evening (Aug. 3).

Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, a police spokesperson, said Pol. Gen. Kittirat had taken action over the allegation made by this unidentified man on “Hone Krasae” programme hosted by “Num Kanchai” that Mr. Thana Kertthong, or Pong, 43, one of four suspects in the two murder cases had taken him to receive drugs from a dealer who turned out to be a police officer at Huai Yai Police Station.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphethad ordered a quick investigation to determine the facts in this case.

“If the allegations are found to be true, decisive legal measures, both disciplinary and criminal, must be taken immediately. The Commander of the Chonburi Provincial Police must report the results promptly,” he said.

The commanding officers had been told to immediately check the mobile phone of the accused officer in searching for evidence and if other police officers are involved decisive action will be taken against them too, he added.

Pong and Mr. Thongchai Srinil, or Thong, 39, were arrested at Sa Kaeo province bordering Cambodia on Saturday where they confessed to murdering Russian siblings, Diana Nazimova, 22, and Roman Nazimov, 17, who left their home in Huai Yai subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, on a motorcycle early last Sunday morning (July 26) and had been missing since then. They were brought to back to Chonburi for detailed questioning at Huai Yai police station.

Pong confessed further that the two of them plus two other suspects, had previously committed a triple murder at the end of June.

Police subsequently arrested two more suspects: Mr. Chatchanan Paen-iam, or Fluke, and Mr. Asadang Chuawong, or Ball, who allegedly participated in the robbery and murder of the family of three.
