20 crew members of attacked Thai ship back home

SAFELY back home are 20 of 23 crew members of Thai-flagged bulk carrier “Mayuree Naree” that was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on March 11 with Oman having rescued them while efforts are still underway to help the remaining three, Amarin TV said this morning (March 16).

Senior executives of Precious Shipping Plc, the ship’s owner, were present at Suvarnabhumi Airport to greet the crew after closely coordinating with relevant agencies to facilitate their return.

Their repatriation was made possible through the cooperation of numerous relevant organizations, both domestic and international, which significantly contributed to the crew’s smooth return to Thailand.

The company has provided appropriate welfare support to the crew, including physical health checkups and mental health assessments by experts.

Meanwhile Thai Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow held a telephone discussion with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi yesterday during which he requested Iran’s support in rescuing the three remaining Thai crew members still trapped in the attacked ship .

He also asked Iran to allow Thai commercial vessels safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz while reiterating Thailand’s stance that all parties involved in the conflict negotiate via diplomatic process so that peace returns to the Middle East as soon as possible.
