By Thai Newsroom Reporters

MOST AMONG a few thousands of people have expressed dissatisfaction with performance of the Bhumjaithai-led coalition government, according to the latest opinion poll of the King Prajadhipok Institute.

The KPI poll released today (Dec. 26) and conducted recently with a total of 2,016 people in all regions of the country found 42% of the respondents dissatisfied to some extent with performance of the Bhumjaithai-led government under Caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul whilst 24% were found totally dissatisfied.

That compared to 25% of the respondents who were known to have been satisfied to some extent and 3% who were found to have been utterly satisfied with the government’s performances since the last few months. However, nearly 5% of the respondents declined to express their sentiment toward the government.

The Bhumjaithai, core of the caretaker coalition government, are discreetly under control of de facto party boss Newin Chidchob and partnered with the Klatham under de facto party boss/Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Agriculture & Cooperatives Minister Thammanat Prompao and renegade factions of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart and Palang Pracharath, among others.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangketkeow is running under the Bhumjaithai tickets as the No.2 contender for prime minister whilst Anutin who concurrently acts as interior minister and the Bhumjaithai leader is vying as the No.1 partisan contestant for head of government in the Feb.8 general election.

Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapat and Commerce Minister Supajee Suthumpun have reportedly declined to be Anutin’s running mates for prime minister.

But the caretaker prime minister has earlier confirmed that they both will definitely be given the same ministerial seats plus that of a deputy prime minister if the Bhumjaithai return as core of a post-election government.

Partisan candidates are applying to run for a total of 400 MP seats in constituency-based mode tomorrow (Dec.27) whilst others are registering to vie for a total of 100 MP seats in party-listed mode the next day (Dec.28).
