Thai F-16s bomb another casino with Chinese citizens likely injured in earlier airstrike

THAI F-16 fighter jets bombed another casino near the Thai-Cambodian border last night (Dec. 10) while the Chinese embassy in Phnom Penh said it is investigating reports of Chinese citizens getting injured in yesterday’s airstrike on a different casino, Naewna and PPTVHD36 said this morning.

The Army Military Force Facebook page posted images and a message on this aerial attack on the casino in Chub Koki area, Banteay Ampil district, Oddar Meanchey province, with this being opposite Sai Taku border checkpoint in Ban Kruat district, Buriram province.

This casino and adjacent oil deport were used by Khmers as a military operational site including launching suicide drone attacks on Thai soldiers as well as heavy weapons storage facility, and a refueling point for BM-21 rocket launchers.

Late Tuesday night Thai JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets bombed a casino used as a Cambodian command post at O’Smach border town adjacent to Thai Chong Chom town, Surin province with the Chinese embassy in Phnom Penh saying late last night that online media reports indicated that Chinese citizens had got injured in this airstrike and it was actively investigating the situation.

The Chinese embassy in Phnom Penh again warned Chinese citizens in the neighbouring country, especially those residing in Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat provinces near the Thai-Cambodian border, to evacuate to safe areas as soon as possible while those residing elsewhere were urged to avoid travelling to the border area.

After the embassy’s statement circulated online, netizens commented that: “This means the Chinese embassy is aware of the scam in Cambodia.”

Meanwhile it was announced that the clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border during Dec. 8-10 have resulted in nine Thai soldiers being killed, seven in Second Army Region zone and two in the First Army Region zone.

Addionally, the Second Army Region also revealed that it has found out the operators of suicide drones were not Cambodian soldiers.

These are first-person view (FPV) drones equipped with 82mm mortars and controlled by fiber optic cables.

One type is for target scouting, observing and reporting on the target and based on audio messages, these drones are not fast and cannot fly for extended periods.

Suicide drones drop mortars in front of or behind bunkers, hoping to spread debris, and they then land on the ground to conserve battery and wait for a new target.

The flight pattern shows avoidance of areas with many obstacles and involves selective targeting with this leading to speculation that fiber optic cables are used.

Experts of FPV drones said there are two control methods:

– GPS-guided flight, allowing multiple drones to take off simultaneously, but this results in erratic flight and is prone to collision with branches or nets.

– Manual control, with each drone controlled individually, typically searching for a way to enter a bunker with this being what the Thai side has observed,

Moreover the operator is likely not a military officer, as military radio signals end with “finished…”.
