Chaikasem ready to follow party’s decision

PHEU THAI’S candidate for prime minister MP Chaikasen Nitisiri said this evening (Aug. 29) after the Constitutional Court deposed Paetongtarn Shinawatra as head of government that he is ready to follow his party’s decision on this key issue, Amarin TV said.

He briefly told a reporter who contacted him that he is dining with some friends in a restaurant and is not comfortable giving interviews on the current political situation. However he mentioned that he would leave it to the party to decide how to proceed and is ready to follow suit.

Meanwhile de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra declined to give an interview to the media upon arriving at Pheu Thai Party headquarters at 5.25 p.m. as he was busy talking on the phone.

Five minutes later former prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived there with her husband Pitaka Suksawat to meet MPs and Red Shirt supporters. Khunying Potjaman Damapong, Paetongtarn’s mother, was also waiting there to give her support.

The party’s MPs then went up to the fifth floor to discuss the political situation with Paetongtarn quoted as telling them to keep fighting and not lose hope.
