A FILIPINO woman was helped by a Good Samaritan after getting injured when fighting off a rapist in Chonburi early this morning (Apr. 2), TV Channel 7 said.

Pol. Lt. Col. Phonprom Muangbangyung, deputy superintendent at Huai Yai police station, took a team to investigate the edge of Huai Chak Nok Reservoir in  Huai Yai subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, where the attack took place in chasing the culprit with there possibly being clues in clips from surveillance camera in this area.

The Good Samaritan, Mr. Uthai (surname not mentioned), 37, told police that early this morning just as he was setting fish traps in the reservoir, he saw a panic-stricken foreign woman with blood all over her face and shouting for help.

He quickly helped her contact the police.

The unidentified 27-year-old victim, who had also wounded her right hand and had abrasions on her body, told police through an interpreter that she was walking along Sukhumvit road when a dark-skinned motorcyclist around 165 centimetres tall offered to drop her off at her accommodation.

However instead of taking her there, he brought her to this deserted spot and then grabbed her mobile phone and beat her up in order to rape her.

Luckily she was carrying a knife which she used to stab her attacker and he then fled with her mobile phone.
