FOLLOWING A brawl between royalists and activists conducting a poll on royal motorcades at BTS Siam’s skywalk yesterday (Feb. 10), a young man posted images of two flyers thrown down from this station with death threats against key activist Ms. Tantawan Tuatulanond, Matichon newspaper said this morning.
This occurred after an incident on Feb. 4 whereby Tantawan, or Tawan, 20, of the Thalu Wang group, and a colleague blared their car horn at a royal motorcade and also tried to overtake a police vehicle. Their action was criticised by the authorities and a police complaint was filed for public disturbance.
While conducting this poll yesterday, members of Thai People Protecting the Monarchy (TPPM) group showed up with both sides hurling abuse at each other then clashing.
Pathumwan police station team separated the two groups with the Thalu Wang group moved within the station and TPPM members rounded up outside and metal barriers placed to block entrance to the compound.
However this morning a Facebook user posted images of the two flyers with death threats against Tantawan.
One of them said, “Let’s help each other, kill Tawan first, cut the chicken’s neck for monkeys to see, everyone prepare the weapons they are holding.”
The other said, “Next time I see you, will throw you down the skywalk, everything ends, does everyone agree?”
The Facebook user raised the question whether this is connected to a political movement while adding he feared the conflict will escalate further.
After the brawl Tantawan told reporters that former Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat had ceased being her bail bondsman a long time ago.
She added that 12 members of her group were injured during yesterday’s clash with media persons and a police officer also being hurt.
It was later revealed that Pol. Sgt. Wiphop Thongpratueng, from Metropolitan Police Division 6, had fractured his right eyebrow.
