THAI police are unravelling the mysterious death of a Chinese woman who was found dumped in a ditch at Ratchaburi after working as an entertainer at a pool villa party in Pattaya with her boyfriend having flown here from China to follow up on the case, TV Channel 7 and Workpoint News said today (Mar. 13).

Mr. Zhang Xiaotian, 31, met Pol. Lt. Sanya Jaijan, deputy investigator at Nong Prue police station, to find out about the mysterious death of Ms. Ji Zhengjiao, 34, also a Chinese national and his girlfriend for over four years.

Ji had been working in Thailand, residing in Pattaya, but on Feb. 21 sent a final message to a female friend, simply saying “Help”, after which she could not be contacted. Her friend then contacted Zhang who immediately flew to Thailand and filed a police report on his girlfriend’s disappearance.

Police investigations revealed that before the incident, the deceased had accepted an entertainment job at a pool villa in Pattaya’s Soi Chaiyapruek 2 with several Chinese men attending  the party. A review of CCTV footage showed the deceased mostly mingling with the suspects but later one of the  Chinese men helped the unconscious woman out of the villa before putting her in a car and driving away from the area.

Additional surveillance camera clips showed that this vehicle drove out of Chonburi towards Ratchaburi. Subsequently, residents in Ratchaburi’s Bang Phae subdistrict found the decomposed body of an unidentified woman in a ditch in the middle of a coconut plantation.  The authorities investigated and sent the body for autopsy with the result showing that it was the missing Chinese woman.

Meanwhile, reporters also received an audio clip in Chinese of a conversation between the female friend of the deceased and a suspect. As translated, her friend asked, “After the incident, did the deceased go to see you?” The man replies, “Yes.” When further asked, “Were you the last person with her?”, he replied, “I was very drunk and don’t remember anything.” This answer has increased suspicion among the deceased’s family and friends,

Initially, police have been unable to confirm the cause of death whether it was due to physical assault, drugging, or drug-related, with a detailed autopsy by the Forensic Science Institute to determine this. However, police have identified the Chinese man who took the deceased from the pool villa and are in the process of tracking him down for questioning and gathering evidence to prosecute him according to the law.

The deceased’s boyfriend insists that Thai police thoroughly investigate the case, as news of the incident has already spread in China, and he believes his girlfriend did not die of natural causes and that someone is definitely involved.
