A BIG team of over 50 policemen raided a cannabis farm owned and operated by Israelis in Krabi where marijuana extract containing over 0.2% THC, classifying it as a narcotic, was sold online and farm tours by tourists held with consumption allowed on site, Naewna newspaper and TV Channel 7 said this evening (Jan. 21).

The cannabis farm, operated by Caknazon Co., Ltd. and located in Sai Thai subdistrict, Mueang Krabi district, was raided after search and arrest warrants were issued by Krabi Provincial Court.

Upon arrival the police team read out the warrants via an interpreter to Mr. Moses Yamin, an Israeli national and the farm’s owner, who then allowed them in.

There they found that the compound had been converted into an indoor cannabis farm with controlled water, light and temperature systems. There was also equipment for processing cannabis with extract containing over 0.2% THC, categorising it as narcotic, found.

Farm tours for tourists had been arranged and consumption within the premises allowed with the marijuana also sold online and delivered to the customers.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Sukasem Nakornwilai, commander of the Krabi Provincial Police, said that his team had been monitoring this operation for over two months.

Investigation revealed that a foreign investor had initially set up a 100% Thai-owned company via nominees but after three to four months the capital was increased and Israeli investors became shareholders in a 49:51 ratio. As documents clearly show this fraudulent shareholding scheme, charges are being filed with the authorities currently chasing the four Thai nominees and expect to arrest them soon.

The Provincial Public Health Office has also suspended this company’s business licence for 60 days and after gathering evidence will hand over the case to the police for legal action.
