PRIME Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said today (Feb. 18) that there is no truth to rumours spreading in the country that Israeli tourists have occupied Pai district, northern Mae Hong Son province, with an investigation having confirmed this, TV Channel 7 said.
Paetongtarn issued the denial after dissatisfaction spread among Thai people that Israelis built a synagogue in Pai and put up a sign that says Thais are barred from entering.
Next week Deputy Prime Minister/Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will be visiting the area to personally follow up on this matter, she added.
Regarding a group of Cambodians singing their national anthem at Prasat Ta Muen Thom temple in Phanom Dong Rak district of Surin province, which lies along the border, a few days ago that led to many people feeling uncomfortable, Paetongtarn said she has already held talks with officials in the area and there is no problem.
She promised to raise this issue during her upcoming visit to Cambodia.
