POLICE have got clues to the identity of the man who killed and cut off the hands of a young female student then dumped her body beneath Udon Ratthaya Expressway in Pathum Thani early this morning (June 5), Amarin TV and TV Channel 7 said.
The naked body of the unidentified woman around 20 to 25 years old was found wrapped in a blanket in the thicket beneath this expressway with her throat slashed and both her hands cut off at the wrist. The blanket was tied with a belt with the buckle being that of Phra Nakhon Rajabhat University.
There was also a 150-metre trail of blood drops and police estimated that she had been dead for around six to eight hours before her body was found.
The strongest clue was provided by Mr Thongdaeng, the owner of a garage just opposite the spot were the body was dumped, who saw the killer and said he is a man in his 30s, was wearing glasses, a cream colour T-shirt and crop pants, and rode up on a black motorcycle with no licence plate.
He added that at 5 a.m. just as he woke up after falling asleep in his vehicle he saw this motorcyclist covering something he had discarded in the thicket with grass. He then walked across the road and pulled a garbage bag from the bin and brought it back to cover the layer of grass he had spread there before riding away.
However he returned at 5.40 a.m. so Thongdaeng walked up and warned him, “What have you dumped here, pick it up and take it away or I’ll inform the police.” He replied, “I threw something I loved,” and then rode off.
Pol. Maj. Gen.Yutthana Jonkhun, head of Pathum Thani police, said the victim’s neck was slashed with her hands cut off. His team is tracking down the suspect by going through surveillance camera clips and carefully collecting and examining all the evidence at the scene.
Although the victim’s body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Science, her hands have not yet been found.
