Move Forward tops latest opinion poll with majority backing Pita for PM

AN OPINION poll conducted by King Prajadhipok’s Institute shows that the majority of the respondents would still choose Move Forward Party if a general election is held over the next few days and they also want the party’s former leader Pita Limjaroenrat to be the prime minister, Thai Rath newspaper said this evening (May 26).

The opinion poll, entitled “Popularity of political parties and the prime minister: 1 year after the election on May 14, 2023” was conducted among 1,620 people from all walks of life of voting age in all provinces including Bangkok.

To the question which party’s constituency-based MPs they would vote for if an election is held soon the result is as follows:

– 35.7% opted for Move Forward Party;

– 18.1% Pheu Thai Party;

– 11.2% Bhumjaithai Party;

– 9.2% Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party;

– 7.8% Palang Pracharath Party;

– 5% Democrat Party;

– 1.6% Chat Thai Pattana Party;

– 1.2%  Prachachat Party;

– 10.2% to vote for candidates from other parties or have not decided.

On which camp’s party-listed MPs they would vote for the outcome is as follows:

– 44.9% said they would vote for those from Move Forward Party;

– 20.2% Pheu Thai Party;

– 10.9% Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party;

– 3.5% Bhumjaithai Party;

– 3% Palang Pracharath Party and Democrat Party;

– 1.3% Prachachart Party;

– 0.7% Chart Thai Pattana Party;

– 12.6% to vote for candidates from other parties or have not decided.

On who they would like to be the prime minister right now:

– 46.9% Pita Limjaroenrat;

– 17.7% Gen.Prayut Chan-o-cha;

– 10.5% Paetongtarn Shinawatra;

– 8.7% Srettha Thavisin;

– 3.3% Anutin Charnvirakul;

– 1.7% Jurin Laksanawisit;

– 0.4% Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan;

– 10.9 % chose other candidates or have not seen anyone suitable.

In estimating the combined total of constituency-based and party-listed seats each political party has a chance of winning should an election be held soon this opinion poll shows Move Forward would get 208; Pheu Thai 105; Bhumjaithai 61; Ruam Thai Sang Chart 34; Palang Pracharath 30; Democrat 22; Chart Thai Pattana 10; Prachachart 9; with 21 seats divided among other parties.
