WITH de facto Pheu Thai boss/convict at large Thaksin Shinawatra’s stay at Police Hospital having reached 120 days today (Dec. 21) rumours have spread that the Corrections Department has approved his continued stay there with there being no official announcement on this issue, Matichon newspaper said this evening.

According to procedures, Mr. Nassathee Thongplad, commander of the Bangkok Remand Prison, has to submit papers with the opinion of doctors treating him for Corrections Department Director-General Sahakarn Petnarin to consider approving extension of his stay there beyond this point as it is deemed that he is still ill.

However the Corrections Department chief has not scheduled a press conference nor clarified this issue.

According to reports,  if the Corrections Department approves his continued stay at Police Hospital for more than 120 days, it would not be necessary to consider another extension. This is because regulations only state allowing prisoners to undergo treatment beyond 120 days.
