THE THAI AIR FORCE and United States Air National Guards are jointly conducting a tactical air exercise over Nakhon Ratchasima, an air force source said today (Sep.14).

The Thai air force’s Wing 1, Wing 4, Wing 7 and Wing 21 are currently taking part in the joint exercise codenamed Enduring Partners Engagement 2023 alongside the Washington Air National Guard and Oregon Air National Guard.

The 10-day joint tactical air exercise, the first ever of its kind and scheduled to end next week, is featuring five McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighters from the Washington Air National Guard and Oregon Air National Guard.

Squadrons of General Dynamics F-16 A/B and F-16 ADF Fighting Falcon fighters from Wing 1 in Nakhon Ratchasima and Wing 4 in Takhli are joining in the exercise alongside Saab JAS39 Gripen fighters from Wing 7 in Surat Thani and Northrop F-5TH Super Tigris fighters from Wing 21 in Ubon Ratchathani.

As part of the joint drill, a Thai pilot takes the back seat of a two-seat Air National Guard fighter whilst a US pilot does the same aboard a two-seat Thai air force jet.

Last month, Wing 1 conducted a joint air exercise with the Australian air force over terrains of the northeastern province.
