FORMER DEPUTY House speaker Supachai Bhosu was today (June 11) judged guilty of illegally occupying forest land in his native province of Nakhon Panom and was immediately deprived of electoral candidacy rights as well as banned from assuming political positions for life.
The Supreme Court ruled Supachai, also known as Khru Kaew, guilty as earlier charged by the National Anti-Corruption Commission of illicitly occupying 220 rai of forest land in Tha Uthane district of the upper northeastern province since the last quarter of a century and consequently handed him legal penalties resulting in his prohibitions for life from contesting elections at any level as well as from assuming political positions at any level.
Besides, his electoral suffrages as a constituent of Nakhon Panom are legally denied for a maximum of 10 years from now.
Over the last two and a half decades, Supachai has been a former MP previously representing a constituency of the northeastern province, a former deputy agriculture & cooperatives minister and a former deputy House speaker attached to the Bhumjaithai, core of the current coalition government under hush-hush influence of de facto party boss Newin Chidchob.
In the previous election, his daughter Suppani Bhosu was elected an MP of Nakhon Panom under the Bhumjaithai banners.
She currently represents a constituency other than the one where her father had been found illegally encroaching and occupying the forest land.
