Laos sending more troops, armaments to Cambodia border

LAOS has over the past few days continuously increased the number of troops and armaments at Attapeu province, which borders Cambodia, with photos and videos of their transportation taken by Laotian netizens shared on Facebook and Tiktok, Amarin TV said today (Jan. 9).

A post at the “Army Military Force” Facebook page today said Laos People’s Army has been continuously boosting their troop numbers at Attapeu province with additional armaments also transported there starting Jan. 4.

This movement is being closely watched amidst reports of border disputes and infringement of sovereign territory. The Laotian Army has stated its commitment to maintaining security and preventing border violations in the area.

However some Laotian netizens suggested that this could merely be a military exercise to demonstrate the Laotian army’s capabilities to defend their sovereign territory to neighbouring Cambodia.
