A THAI couple were found shot dead at their townhouse in Prachinburi province after enjoying a the New Year’s Eve party with some friends, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Jan. 2).
Pol. Lt. Col. Somchai Wangwon, an investigating officer at Prachantakham police station, rushed to a two-storey corner townhouse belonging to an employee of Provincial Electricity Authority upon being alerted of the couple’s death and found a woman, Ms. A (pseudonym), 39, lying prone in a pool of blood after being shot in the forehead.
Upstairs he found the body of Mr. B similarly shot dead with one bullet having grazed his ear and the other entering the centre of his forehead. Also found there were four 9mm shell casings on the ground floor and three upstairs as well as four firearms – three handguns and one rifle, and a large quantity of unused ammunition.
Forensic officers collected all the evidence while rescue workers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation transported the deceased couple’s body to Chao Phraya Abhaibhubej Hospital for autopsy.
Upon searching the area around the house they found a wooden dining table where the deceased couple held a New Year’s Eve party with some friends with broken glasses and bottles scattered around. Investigation revealed that they had been joined by three friends and after the party ended they bade good bye to the couple and dispersed.
Later Ms. C (pseudonym), A’s younger sister, who upon being unable to contact her by phone went to the townhouse and found her dead called the police. She mentioned that B was fond of collecting firearms.
A friend of the deceased said he had joined the couple and two other friends, Mr. Mik and Ms. Nuna, for dinner, a total of five people. He arrived around 9.30 p.m. and they were all chatting and laughing with there being no indication of any stress. It was 12.40 a.m. when he and the two other friends left.
He added that he did not know what happened until the security guard told him that they had been killed.
The deceased man’s older brother said he had been invited to this party but declined. Three months earlier his brother messaged him asking about his assets and he initially thought he might be facing some trouble at work but was reassured he was fine.
As his brother did not have any debts and his job was secure the only problem would be in his relationship as he had heard someone else was financially supporting A but he was not certain.
