FORMER finance minister Korn Chatikavanij posted a Facebook message praising Prime Minister-elect Anutin Charnvirakul for selecting Treasury Department Chief Ekniti Nitithanpraphat as finance minister because he is suited for the current economic conditions, Amarin TV said this evening (Sep. 6).
“I must say that this person is a good choice, clean and knowledgeable, as he is a native of the Ministry of Finance. I have worked with him, and he is a person everyone loves. He is suited to the current situation,” he wrote.
“Of course, with limited time, no one can solve every problem, but I believe Mr. Ekniti is well aware of the immediate challenges.”
Although this government has very little time, it could still work out a national development strategy and announce the first steps towards the goal within the next four months, Korn said.
Ekniti, who holds an economics bachelor’s degree from Thammasat University, a master’s degree in the same field from Illinois University and likewise PhD from Claremont Graduate University, is also chairman of Thanachart Bank Plc, director and chairman of the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Committee of PTT Exploration and Production Plc and chairman of the Board of Directors of Thanarak Asset Development Co.Ltd.
