Thai-German actress gets suspended sentence for drunk driving

A THAI-GERMAN actress and model was sentenced to two months in jail, suspended for two years, with her driver’s licence too suspended for six months after refusing to undergo a breathalyser test at Bangkok’s Wang Thonglang district in the wee hours of Sunday morning (Aug. 24), Thai Rath newspaper said today.

A businessman who is close to Ms. Marie Brenner, 33, identified as Mr. Atsamakorn Singhasikornkul and also known as “Hi-So Boss” was sentenced to one month in jail, suspended for one year, plus fined 10,000 baht for publicly insulting police officers and obstructing them from performing their duties.

Marie was driving a green Porsche but when she was stopped at the checkpoint on Pradit Manutham road she refused to go through the alcohol test while her close friend threatened the police team, claiming he is the younger brother of a high-ranking police officer.

Marie was taken to Wang Thonglang police station where she again refused to undergo a breathalyser test and was then charged with drunk driving but released on 20,000 baht bail.

Prosecutors today filed charges against the two of them at Phra Nakhon Nuea Provincial Court and they both pleaded guilty.

The court found Marie guilty of resisting official order for which she was fined 1,000 baht. As for driving under influence she was sentenced to two months in jail, suspended for two years, fined 4,000 baht and placed on one-year probation. She is required to report to officials three times, perform 12 hours of community service with her driver’s licence suspended for six months.
