DEPUTY Prime Minister/Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai urged the public to not share distorted video clips as it could escalate into war with Cambodia while pointing out that current military exercise is cyclical, Amarin TV said late afternoon today ( March 7).

Army Chief Gen. Pana Klaewplodthuk has confirmed there is no movement, just preparations to defend Thai sovereignty which is normal .

The current military exercise is within the timeframe while the two countries have held discussions along the border, he added.

“The army loves the country but we don’t want fighting to erupt, what we can talk about then we discuss it. We don’t want any expressions that may cause problems such as going out to do various activities both on the Thai and Cambodian side.

“This includes the leader of a political party who announced that he is going to carry out activities at Prasat Ta Muen Thom temple. I confirm that we are prohibiting this. If we let this be carried out then it could end up with Thailand violating the agreement,” Phumtham said.

Meanwhile Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, commander of the 2nd Army  Region, inspected the combat readiness of the 103rd Artillery Battalion in terms of personnel, weapons, equipment, personal equipment and vehicles, including tactical operations, Naewna newspaper said.

In his speech to the troops Lt. Gen. Boonsin emphasised readiness and strength to carry out combat operations in all situations and formats to the fullest extent of their abilities so as to protect sovereignty.

All soldiers were told they must strictly adhere to the commander’s policies and be ready to move to the destination immediately when ordered.
