AN HOUR-LONG heavy rain lashed Pattaya this evening (Nov. 14) leading to many areas of the seaside tourist city being badly flooded, Naewna newspaper said.
Locals in parts of the city that get regularly flooded are now getting used to coping with the situation with floodwaters being 30 to 70 centimetres high this time.
Areas prone to get inundated include Soi Khao Noi, Soi Khao Talo, the road along the railway, Sukhumvit road, South Pattaya and Phenyad Chang intersection (Moom Aroi intersection).
The flooding led to both cars and motorcycles getting damaged with small cars unable to pass on some roads.
Officials came to help the public and channelled the traffic to safer routes and after about 30 minutes started pumping out water with this allowing road users to travel normally again.
They also advised the public to closely follow the weather forecast and avoid areas prone to flooding.
