PRIME MINISTER Srettha Thavisin called for coordinated action against call centre gangs after admitting that he too frequently gets scam calls and messages and mostly did not respond, TV Channel 7 said today (Nov. 25).
This problem requires cooperation from all parties including Finance and Digital Economy and Society ministries, banks, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) and all mobile phone service providers, he said.
He cited unusual mobile phone use, such as calls being made to 500 different mobile phone numbers via a single SIM card per day, being a clear reason to investigate.
NBTC was told to investigate such incidents more thoroughly with there being many reasons to halt service, he said, adding this is an important national agenda as people are suffering.
