Freshmen forced to dance naked in front of women during varsity hazing ritual

 

GOING viral on Thai social media today (July 16) are photos and a video clip of an orientation ceremony outside a private university campus where freshmen were forced to dance naked as women looked on, Matichon newspaper said.

Twitter user Red Skull (@RedSkullxxx) who on July 13 shared photos from this hazing ritual said the following:

“Southeast Asia University, electrical engineering, fourth year. This month there were orientation ceremonies both on campus and off it. Within the campus it was all normal but outside the university there were some freshmen who striped fully even though there were women there. But photos were not taken. There were those who had not completed their studies also joining in.”

Today this same account posted a video clip showing three men dancing naked to music amid cheers with the rear of women seated on chairs looking on.

The accompanying message said:

“This is the off-site hazing ritual of Southeast Asia University, electrical engineering, fourth year. What era is this where juniors strip naked to satisfy seniors. There is a thin line separating the intellectual and those retarded….”

Southeast Asia University later issued a statement on this video clip saying it has a clear policy on organising creative orientation ceremonies with a key rule being that “It is forbidden to hold activities to welcome junior students outside the premises with violation of the rights of junior students being strictly prohibited.

“Senior students guilty of misconduct will be heavily punished for violating discipline and the law. The university has been continuously notifying both students and their parents via SMS.

“In this regard, the faculty will expedite investigation of the facts and will take disciplinary and legal action against senior students who organised or were involved in the non-constructive orientation activities.”
