Over 2,000 new Covid cases with 1,218 emerging in Bangkok

THE Public Health Ministry said this morning (May 16) the daily Covid tally dropped to 2,302, from 3,095 yesterday, but the fatalities increased to 24, from 17 the previous day, Amarin TV and Siam Rath newspaper said.

The new batch of cases takes the cumulative confirmed total to 101,447 with total death toll reaching 589.

Another 2,136 patients have been cured, adding up to 65,803 who have recovered, while 35,055  are still under treatment with 1,228 in serious condition and 408 requiring ventilators.

However Bangkok is still the most badly-hit zone with 1,218 cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total from April 1 to May 15 to 25,942.
