Suspect arrested in death of Kyrgyz woman

ONE OF three Chinese suspects being chased after a Kyrgyz woman who had filed a complaint of having been forced into prostitution plunged to her death from the seventh floor of a luxury condominium in Pattaya yesterday was arrested in Bangkok today (Sept. 17), Thai Rath newspaper said this evening.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Thitawat Suriyachai, chief of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau’s Sub-Bureau 4 acting in his capacity as head of women and children sexual abuse unit, said Ms. Anara Seitaleva, 30, had on Sept. 13, three days before her death, told police that she was being chased by a Chinese gang after escaping from forced prostitution in Pattaya and Bangkok.

Investigation uncovered several clues indicating that what she had said was true.

The three suspects were identified as Mr. Nin Wan Su, 48, from Hong Kong, Ms. Song Sian Li, 32, and Ms. Rou li, 27, with the latter two being from China.

Rou Li was arrested at a condominium in Rama 9 area of Bangkok today and seized from her were her passport, some cash, a credit card and seven mobile phones.

Nin Wan Su had picked up Seitaleva at Suvarnabhumi Airport on July 16 and took her to Laos to work at a call centre. However when she was not able to do the job, he took pornographic photos of her and blackmailed her to do as the gang wished or else they would send them to her family.

On July 27 she was brought back to Thailand and transferred to the two women who prostituted her for almost two months until she managed to escape on Sept. 11.

Around noon today police searched a house in Pattaya to find evidence linking to this case. They were able to question Mr. Wang Gang, 45, the Chinese homeowner who is the husband of one of the two women, and got some information about this case from him.

An autopsy is also being conducted to find out whether Seitaleva had been raped before falling to her death.

The condominium she had plunged from had been rented by Mr. Bechstein Hans Matthias, 58, a German national.

The shocked German man told police that he was holidaying in Thailand with two grandsons who are students. The deceased woman was a friend of his ex-girlfriend and had asked for his help after being lured into prostitution by a Chinese gang.

He gave her his own room to stay but at noon yesterday condominium staff alerted him that she had fallen to her death.
