A GROUP of independent protesters held a “naked” protest in front of the Criminal Court on Ratchadapisek over the revocation of the bail for 20-year-old pro-democracy activist Ms. Thantawan Tuatulanon who has been charged with violating Section 112 of the Criminal Code, or the lese majeste law, Matichon newspaper said this evening (Apr. 21).
The group of around 30 protesters, led by Mr. Paisan Chanpan, from the taxi drivers group, demanded that Thantawan be released on bail and Section 112 be abolished.
Five male protesters took off their shirts and pants and stood in their underpants holding placards calling for Thantawan’s release at the traffic island near the U-turn point opposite Soi Ratchadaphisek 32.
They then walked to the bus stop in front of the court and from there to the Office of the Court of Justice signage shouting “Release Thantawan” throughout.
They ended their protest a little later with the police from Phaholyothin station and security personnel from Veterans Relief Organisation being on hand to maintain security.
